The Vikings were big traders. They got their territory only because when they where going to trading places, they passed next to unguarded places like monasteries, so they just plundered it. The Swedish Vikings went to the Russian side while the Norwegians and the Danes went down to the actual Europe. They where also trading a lot in places like Constantinople, Baghdad and perhaps even Persia, which where more in the south. They traded slaves, timber, iron, furs, amber, soapstone, whetstones while they were bringing home Arabic silvers, coins, fabrics, spices, silk, fruits and wine.
